Ensuring confidence, community and courage in our future Public Affairs leaders.
Chicano Public Affairs Student Association
Our Story
Chicanos Public Affairs Student Association (CPASA) is a latinx student led association that is centered around providing a safe and inclusive environment to ensure the instillment of confidence, community, and courage in our future Public Affairs leaders. Since the Watt's College is nestled in the heart of Downtown Phoenix. This means we are surrounded by generations of hispanic culture; furthermore we have the highest latino enrollment of all of the colleges at ASU. Policy choices, whether it be social work, criminal justice, or zoning, have a direct impact on the latino community - so why are we not a part of the conversation? CPASA is looking to change that.
What We Offer
Academic Support
Since students at the Watt's College will take similar courses, routine study sessions will be held to offer help and support.
Book Club
Every semester, members of CPASA will be given the opportunity to read literature composed by Latinx authors to promote awareness and pride in our culture.
Community outreach
Who says we have to wait to get our degree to make change? Through various volunteer events, CPASA members will get hands on experience with helping serve the public.
Guest Speakers
Many meetings will include local Latinx public servants to help CPASA members network and get better insight on different career fields.
